On Friday 15th February 2019, spend a Friday night out in a cardboard box to raise money for BCM’s work with the homeless in our city – and find out what it’s really like to sleep rough.
The Sleepout will take place in BCM’s HQ carpark at The Clock Tower, 2 Langdon Street, Birmingham B9 4BP.
If you would like to collect sponsorship online, the most cost effective way is through www.mydonate.bt.com. My Donate does not charge or take any percentage of what is donated. The Sleepout is registered as an organised event, and you can set up your own fundraising page to raise money for it.

A regular Sleepouter says, ‘It’s great to play a part’
I knew about the Sleepout because a lovely older lady in my church had done it cheerfully year in and year out. She was an inspiration! When our children got to an age when I could leave them with my husband at night, this lady kindly transported me there and back and also helped me collect sponsorship.
The beauty of the Sleepout is that it has the fundraising power of running a marathon but with no training required! It also gives you a very small (and sheltered) taste of life on the streets, though you’re not sleeping under a Birmingham archway on your own. It is cold, certainly, and gives you an insight into the struggle to keep warm out there; but it’s all very safe and there are hot drinks and snacks to satisfy even the hungriest teenager, not to mention the bacon or sausage sandwiches for breakfast. You’re given a cardboard box which is your best friend for the night. The challenge is to copy the efforts of the person near you who looks most like Bear Grylls! You may not know anyone, but it’s a really friendly, welcoming event, like an enormous sleep-over!
I’m so thankful to God for the great work BCM does to meet not only the physical needs of Birmingham’s homeless but also their spiritual need to know God through Christ. It’s great to be able to play a part in helping to see that continue.
