Care Centre news snippets

The sun shone for Care Centre staff and guests for a wonderful day away last month. And there's lots more happening at the centre...

We thank God for a glorious day helping out at Reaside Forest Garden in May for some of the Care Centre guests and staff who got stuck into clearing and digging.

The Care Centre is busier than ever, open Mondays to Thursdays each week and on some days welcoming 80 guests or more. It is always fantastic when guests take up a place in rehab. Care Centre staff recently visited one of these at Betel who is now clean from alcohol.

Last month the Care Centre was awarded the highest mark by the environmental health inspector who even made a personal financial donation to the Mission!

Staff team member, Matt Buttery is preparing to open a carpentry workshop at the Care Centre to help guests gain skills and confidence. It should be a valuable addition to the programme of activities that many are enjoying there.

There are reports that many council funded homeless services are due to be decommissioned this year in Birmingham. Please pray for adequate provision for homeless people in our city and that the Care Centre would be able to cope with any increase in numbers that may result from the cuts.
