Coffee, hymns and craft
At ElderLink we have enjoyed settling into the autumn season with a new style of Coffee Club where we offer a warm snack and a warm welcome!

We are very grateful for all the volunteers who helped to freshen up our building in Acocks Green over the summer. People with many and varied skills, from gardening to specialist knowledge in music records and medical equipment, were a great help. We are especially thankful to those who took time to pass on no longer needed items by transporting them to places where they could be re-used and recycled.
At our weekly Coffee Club the centre is set up with a comfortable welcome area. We serve refreshments on arrival and prepare a choice of activity tables, including a craft - from tote bag decorating to candle making. Our regular favourite hymn slot offers people the chance to taste the goodness of Jesus and perhaps be reminded of a familiar old tune.
Our older peole who come to the Coffee Club are invited to a half-termly Life Lunch when we share a soup meal and hear a clear presentation of the gospel. Please pray for our Life Lunch on 15th December, that the message of Jesus, the ‘Light of the World’, would take on a new and real meaning to those who attend.
We are regularly welcomed by staff and residents of six care homes. This term we have focused on the 'I AMs' of Jesus - the Way, the Bread of Life and the Light of the World. Lawson, a resident at St Bernard’s Care Home, exclaimed after we had sung 'The Lord is my Shepherd', “I’ve sung that hymn many times. This is the first time I’ve understood the words and meaning!”
Praise God for this wonderful opportunity to freely share the Bible, stimulation and care as we interact with staff and residents over a craft activity at each session.
Home visiting has taken on a slightly new look as we now visit clients in pairs. Please pray for us as we adapt, that God would give us wisdom for each new step.
